IN STANDING WATERS
IN STANDING WATERS
Artist: Konstantinos Kotsis
Exhibition period: 01.04.2021-09.04.2021, 18:00-20:00
The installation consists of sculptural notes on the construction of collective and personal transitions. To create the works, Kotsis uses rainwater, tree branches, stones, and cardboard boxes that he has collected from the sidewalks of Athens. The artist composes the narrative of the exhibition, focusing on archetypal representations such as those of the human figure, the hut, the lake, and the ladder. Presented on the verge of collapse, the works attempt to highlight the fragile balance created in conditions of social, political and health crises, continuing his research on the relationships between public and private, power and subordination.
The installation In Standing Waters is Konstantinos Kotsis' first solo exhibition and was realized during the Covid-19 pandemic in Athens under strict curfew conditions.
